MOMS Club of EW/H: Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the MOMS Club?
We are a non-profit, non-partisan support group for stay-at-home mothers and their children.  Some of our members have varying work commitments, but for the most part we are all home during the day caring for our children ourselves.

What types of activities do you offer?
Monthly meetings, open play dates, crafts, field trips, recurring playgroups, play dates at member's homes, and more.  The MOMS Club is a great way to meet other at-home moms, and a fun way for your children to meet and play with other kids.

What happens during your activities?
At our monthly meeting we usually have a guest speaker or a special topic of discussion.  We also vote on club business and often have a fun craft activity for the children.

Our playgroups meet monthly, weekly or bi-weekly with other members who have children of similar age.  Playgroups generally rotate location.  Siblings are welcome and any member can coordinate a new playgroup.

Our MOMS Night Out activity takes place once a month in the evening.  It's all about having some fun with friends!  Recent activities have included movie night, dinner, pottery making, game night, and more.

Activity groups vary depending upon members' interests.  In the past we have had book clubs, music and movement groups, exercise clubs, as well as other special interests groups.

Specifically, what activities can I expect to see each month?
We have an 'open calendar' approach where any member can add/plan/host an event.  There are organized recurring playgroups (set up via a playgroup coordinator), as well as open playgroups (where anyone can attend).  We have a monthly "MOMS Night Out" There are field trips, special events, meetings, crafts, park play dates, and more!

How does your club communicate with members?
We have our own web site, a monthly newsletter, an activities calendar, and an email discussion group.  We also have a monthly meeting where we discuss points of interest for the month ahead, and often host a speaker of interest.

How much does it cost to join?
Our annual dues are $25.00.  This fee covers such necessities as hospitality supplies, our annual chapter registration with MOMS Club International, and other incidentals.  If you would like to join but feel this fee would cause you an undue hardship, please contact us.  No mother will be denied membership based on her inability to pay.  Special arrangements may be made in the case of financial or personal hardship.

Who is eligible to join the MOMS Club of East Windsor / Hightstown?
We are located in central New Jersey in Mercer County.  Stay-at-home moms who live in East Windsor or Hightstown, NJ are invited to join us, as well as any moms in the surrounding areas that do not yet have an established chapter.

How can I become actively involved in the MOMS Club?
All of our positions are staffed entirely by member volunteers - other stay-at-home moms just like you!  We have an executive board and a variety of other committees and positions.  We are ALWAYS looking for volunteers.

Why is your activities calendar not on the website?
To protect the privacy of our members and their children, we do not post the actual monthly activities calendar on our website.
